Faith in Humanity Restored

Blog dedicated to the phrase "Faith in Humanity Restored", basically just a reason for me to cheer up your dash!

I'm not reblogging only serious posts, I'm also reblogging less serious 'FIHR' things - posts that make me go "Gosh, I love there are people like that out there!" or posts that just make me feel good!

(In case you somehow missed it, the image above temporarily crashed Twitter and currently has more than 3 million retweets — the most ever — topping the famed post-election tweet in 2012 of President Obama hugging his wife, Michelle.)
Some have questioned why DeGeneres used a Samsung Galaxy Note to snap the photo which included such Hollywood heavyweights as Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Meryl Streep.
Samsung was an official sponsor of the Oscars, but the awards-show host decided to “organically incorporate the device into the selfie moment,” the company told TechCrunch.
And Samsung returned the favor by offering to donate $1 for every retweet of the photo, for a total of $3 million, to charities of DeGeneres’ choice, she announced on her show on Monday. She’s decided to give half to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and half to the Humane Society of the United States.
"You can just see how relaxed and happy everybody is — at the Oscars, which is the most tense, usually the most uptight [event]," DeGeneres noted on her show on Monday of the buzzed-about photo.
We bet they’re all smiling a little wider now.
